Hyde Pod's Story

Mar 21

Yesterday was the first day of Spring and Hyde was smiling away on our after school walk. I was a little worried about him not greeting me at the door because he was too busy sleeping. As I was worrying we went outside, he wanted to walk to the end of the block and the. Even found his first stick of the season! When we got back inside he found a bone and was very much himself. Today he’s till seems tired and also didn’t greet me, but I’m hoping that’s only because I’m working on reducing his medicine.

I’m still anxiously waiting for the biopsy results to come in. The doctor said 5-7 days, it’s been 9, and no word yet. I’m really leaning towards doing a homeopathic approach, boosting his immune system and changing his diet, but I haven’t started yet because I don’t know what I’m dealing with… how long should it take to hear something? Should I contact an oncologist on my own, I thought my primary vet would be recommending something, but this is happening so slowly!

Oh Hyde, look at you, you sure seem to be smiling!! 9 days seems a bit long to me. Why don’t you call them and see whats taking so long, and you can ask them who they recommend. My only suggestion is if you do look for on onco, make sure you find one who is keen on homeopathic approaches and ok with you going that route. I would have like to have tried that, but our vet was sourly against it. When I mentioned it she kinda gave me the evil eye and got snippy. Some onco’s just want to blast them with chemo, nothing else. I’ve heard theres a vet that does phone consults (I think he’s out of NC) for homeopathic options. Hopefully someone else will chime in with his info.

I called the vet, they say they have no results yet because they send them out. That’s really great to hear about over the phone consults. Anything to help him. I’m kind of the protective mama dog, I won’t work with someone who has a bad attitude, that energy is the last thing Hyde needs around him.

    Hyde’s lookin good!

I think it’s SMART to wait until you know what your dealing with, good job.

Sorry about the wait though, that is frustrating. I would let your vet know that you’re not happy with that kind of wait (it is excessive compared to other lab turnarounds we’ve seen) and they should consider going elsewhere. Tip: if you’re anywhere near a vet school/teaching hospital, whenever you need a procedure or lab work done there, they do everything on site and you can often have results the very next day.

Good luck, please keep us posted.
